What to Look Forward to With the iOS9 Update
According to Apple’s recent announcement, this fall we will be seeing the release of the iOS 9 software. As always, there are a bunch of new features, some we couldn’t be more excited for and some we could care less about. If you’re one of those people who can’t stand to sit there and read about all these new features and apps, I have great news for you. We’ve done it for you! Today I’m going to tell you about some of the key features we’re most excited for here at Everlook Studios.
- Notes
Let’s start with Notes. Apple has taken a big step in upgrading the Notes App with many more capabilities than it ever has before.
You can:
- Make a checklist of to-dos
- Add Maps, URLs, Pages straight from the Apps
- Add a photo
- Sketch with your finger
All of these features are also saved straight to your iCloud and any changes made will also be updated across all your other devices.
- Multitasking
With this new operating system, we are receiving new features on the iPad to allow you to do two things at once, whether it’s business or personal use.
- Slide Over
With the new Slide Over feature, you can open a second app without leaving the one you currently have open. This makes it easy to look something up online, respond to text messages, add to your notes, etc. and simply slide the screen away when you’re done.
- Picture in Picture
This feature is much like searching for a new video while still continuing to watch your current video on the YouTube App. Now you can press the Home button while using FaceTime or watching a video and instead of closing the App or video it will scale down the size of move the video to the corner of the screen. Clicking any other App afterwards will open up the second App while still continuing your video.
- Split Screen
On the iPad Air 2, you can actually have two Apps open at the same time right next to each other.
- Android Migration
You can now easily transfer all your files from your Android device to an iOS device. You can transfer contacts, messages, photos, videos, mail accounts, etc. It also helps you easily download all the old Apps you had on your Android device by adding all your free Apps to your suggested download list on the App Store and adding all the paid ones to your iTunes Wish List.
- General
- Smaller, more convenient updates
With iOS 9, you don’t need as much free space to download updates. It also sends you a notification option when it’s time to update that lets you update when you’re asleep or when you least use the device.
- Faster and more responsive
The iOS 9 update now allows faster scrolling, smoother animation, better performance, and faster rendering. Also, according to Apple, the new multitasking features on iPad will feel fluid and natural.
- Battery Life
Your iPhone now can tell if it is placed facedown and prevents the screen from turning on. This applies even if you were to receive a notification. Updates have been made across the entire operating system to cut down battery usage and make it as efficient as possible.
